Open FluidSim

Open FluidSim is an open-source simulator for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, written in Unity.

Aside from the web version, a Windows standalone and an Android version are available for download. You can also check it on GitHub!

Why?

The use of simulation software is a game changer when learning about hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Being able to test different component combinations and validate circuit behaviour before real-life assembly is a great way to learn!

Unfortunately, as of 2018 there are no open-source and multiplatform tools for the modeling and simulation of fluid systems. Proprietary educational solutions do exist, but not every engineering student has access to these tools. Also, not every individual who wishes to learn the basics about hydraulic and pneumatic systems is an engineering student. 

And that's why Open FluidSim was built: to provide a free, multiplatform tool for the modeling and simulation of simple fluid systems.

Hi! My name is Gabriel Naves and I created Open FluidSim as my completion of course work.

While I'm happy with how the simulator turned out, I realize my work is far from complete! Many improvements need to be done in order for this simulator to become the educational tool it could be.

Righ now I've got my hands full with 3 different projects, but I will be updating this simulator soon!

Roadmap

September 2018:

  • Saving and loading on web version;
  • Complete user manual.

October 2018:

  • Complete project documentation;
  • Valve builder.
